Covid-19: CT Positivity Rate Dips Near 3 Percent; Latest Breakdown By Community, County

Connecticut continues to see a drop in the overall COVID-19 positive infection rate statewide as it fell to nearly 3 percent in the latest data released by the Department of Health.

Gov. Ned Lamont said that on Thursday, Feb. 4, 47,026 COVID tests were administered in Connecticut, resulting in 1,431 positive cases.

The 3.04 percent infection rate is down from 3.14 the day before. Last month, the state was contending with an infection rate topping 10 percent following the holiday season, though there are concerns of a new surge with Super Bowl weekend on the horizon.

There have now been 259,372 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Connecticut out of more than 5.94 million tested statewide.

Twenty-nine new virus-related deaths were reported in the latest data, bringing the total to 7,214 in Connecticut. Ten COVID-19 patients were discharged from Connecticut hospitals, leaving 827 still being treated for the virus. 

The latest breakdown of confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Connecticut, by county, according to the state Department of Health on Friday, Feb. 5:

  • Fairfield: 74,033;
  • Hartford: 65,172;
  • New Haven: 65,075;
  • New London: 17,459;
  • Litchfield: 10,201;
  • Middlesex: 9,497;
  • Windham: 8,529;
  • Tolland: 7,122;
  • Unknown: 853.
